Privacy Policy

Somatone is an ear-training app. It is built to work without collecting your personal data. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Microphone

Some exercises let you sing. When you do, the app uses the microphone for on-device pitch detection only — to work out how high or low your note is.

• Audio is processed live on the device and is never recorded or saved.
• Audio is never sent anywhere. It does not leave your device.
• The app only keeps pitch summaries (for example, cents of deviation and whether an answer was correct).
• The microphone is used only while you are actively singing in an exercise.
• You can use the entire app in listening-only mode without granting microphone access.

What is stored on your device

To show your progress, the app saves the following locally, inside its own app sandbox:

• Exercise results (e.g. cents of deviation, correct/incorrect, timestamps).
• Your settings (reference note, pitch reference, difficulty, language).
• Nothing about purchases: Somatone is a paid app and all exercises are included.

This data is used only to show you your progress and to run the app. It stays on your device. It may be included in your device's standard backup (iCloud or Finder/Time Machine) — that backup is controlled by Apple and your own device settings, not by us. You can remove all of it by deleting the app.

Purchases

Somatone is bought once through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see or receive your payment details. Apple's handling of a purchase is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.

Children

Somatone contains no objectionable content and collects no data, so it is suitable for all ages. Because we collect nothing, we collect nothing from children either.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it.
